#QuickRewind: 6 Jewellery Trends that Rocked in 2018

We are already 10 days into the year 2019, but before we move forward to making new artificial fashion jewellery trends for the new year, it’s time we rewind a little and take inspiration from accessory trends which ruled 2018! (Especially Bollywood)

  • Choker Necklace:

The trend of chokers started way back in 2017, but 2018 was the year of multi-colour, stone-studded choker necklaces. A lot of actresses were seen wearing these choker necklaces, on lehengas or Sarees in either matching or contrasting colours.

Badhaai Ho actress Sanya Malhotra was seen flaunting a golden choker necklace and matching earrings with Red stone and dangling pearls. This uplifted her entire outfit and stood out from the rest!

  • Chaandbali Earrings

2018 was the year of the elegant Chaandbali earrings both small and large, in oxidised silver, gold, Kundan, coloured stones, and what not! These moon-shaped earrings suit any face type and outfit, and proved to be very versatile.

Alia Bhatt sported elegant medium-sized chaandbalis with her otherwise simple embroidered Saree, which gave an ethnic touch to her appearance.

  • Long Statement Earrings

2018 saw the emergence of “Statement Jewellery”- a term used for jewellery pieces which had bold designs and stood out from all jewellery items. Long shoulder grazer Earrings, Danglers, Geometric Korean Earrings, and the list are endless. Actress Shraddha Kapoor was seen wearing fancy Shoulder grazer earrings with her Indo-western outfit in her movie, Stree!

  • Vibrant Jhumkas

Jhumkas have been a part of the imitation jewellery family for years, but the year 2018 was all about wearing multi-coloured, vibrant pearl and Kundan studded long Jhumkas, either with long skirts, Sarees or Lehengas!

The latest addition to beautiful actresses, Sara Ali Khan, was spotted wearing pretty and vibrant jhumkas in her debut movie Kedarnath.

  • Padmaavat Naths and Raani Haar

The movie Padmaavat was such a huge project, that it became a brand in itself. Lot of imitation jewellery brands and jewellery makers sold jewellery which was worn by the lead actress Deepika Padukone in the movie, as Queen Padmaavati. These designs were one of the trendiest jewellery designs in 2018. What mostly caught the eyes of women were the big, circular Kundan and Pearl nose rings, and the Raani Haar. These not only rocked in the wedding season, but also otherwise!

  • Bridal Jewellery- Kundan Maatha Patti

2018 witnessed the marriages of all the leading ladies of Bollywood- Anushka Sharma with Virat Kohli, Deepika Padukone weds Ranveer Singh, Sonam Kapoor weds Anand Ahuja, and Priyanka Chopra weds teen sensation and singer Nick Jonas. While we couldn’t move our eyes from their happy faces, these actresses also set raging jewellery trends which are here to stay, even in 2019! Out of the jewellery that these women adorned, Kundan maatha pattis with matching stones and pearls caught our eyes. Jewellery makers are now coming up with unique maatha patti designs, especially in light and pastel colours for 2019.
